JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to assist with construction, maintenance, and repair work on CCWA buildings and facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Provides support to other technicians with services to any and all buildings, structures, and water plants belonging to CCWA.

· Assists with painting work; paints buildings, pumps, piping, etc.

· Assists with general carpentry work.

· Assists with routine masonry work; builds wood or metal forms for concrete; and finishes and/or repairs existing concrete such as sidewalks, steps, fences, etc.

· Assists with tear down and rehabilitates buildings, offices, and restrooms; performs restorations.

· Assists with light construction work and/or remodels.

· Assists with routine plumbing work.

· Assists with the removal and installation of equipment.

· Assists with the sandblasting of clarifiers, pumps, piping, trailers, etc.

· Performs basic maintenance and moves furniture as requested.

· Processes a variety of documentation associated with Department/Division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.

· Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments; operates and maintains painting tools, plumbing tools, masonry

tools, and other tools and equipment. Communicates supervisor, other CCWA employees, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

· Works on-call as scheduled.

· Performs other assigned duties.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

· High school diploma or equivalent; Two (2) years of related work experience in facilities maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

· Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

 

Required Licenses/Certifications:

· Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as heavy work involving lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. If someone can do heavy work, then he or she can also do medium, light, and sedentary work.

· Tasks involve some combination of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and prolonged standing; tasks may also involve some pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

· Experience in use of power tools and working at elevated heights using manlifts, scaffolding, and ladders is required.
